Our Team

The core team is a group of hotels experts who have held senior positions in prominent hotel properties of various renowned international hotel chains. They are familiar with the western protocols and the international standard of hotel management/ operation. Since the majority of these core management members of NWHML are Chinese, originating from Hong Kong, they share the same Chinese background and culture with the local developers/ investors, thus making it easier for the NWHML management team to understand business needs of Mainland entrepreneurs. This point is conducive for a win-win cooperation between both parties.

Ray Wong – Managing Director

With a wealth of 40 years’ hotel experience, Mr. Wong is widely regarded as one of the leaders in the hospitality industry.

In 1983, Ray was appointed as the Executive Director of New World Hotels International Limited (NWHIL). As one of the founding members of the New World Hotels International Limited, Ray has made significant contributions to the rapid growth and success of the NWHIL.

On top of opening the China Hotel in Guangzhou, Ray has led the effort in developing new hotels in the major cities of China (including Guilin, Shanghai, Beijing, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Xian, Qingdao, Wuxi, Harbin and Wuhan) and Asia Pacific (including Saigon, Makati, Kuala Lumpur and Yangon). Amongst other duties, Ray has also participated directly in the general management of some quality hotel properties in Hong Kong and Mainland China. In 1997, Ray was appointed as the Vice President and Executive Director, China of the Marriott International. In this capacity he was responsible for more than 20 Marriott hotel projects in China which include Hong Kong and Macau.

Elsie Chiu – General Manager

Ms. Chiu has over 20 years of hotel experience. Before joining the NWHML, she was the Director of Operations at the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel, Hong Kong.

Between 1997 and 2001, Elsie played a pivotal role in the new China hotel development projects of Marriott International in Shunde, Chongqing, Shanghai as well as Beijing. When she was with the New World Hotels International during the period of 1986 to 1997, Elsie served actively in the New World hotel properties located in different locations of China (including Guangzhou, Beijing, Wuhan, Harbin, Qingdao, and Wuxi).

Connie Siu – Director of Operations

With over 30 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, Ms. Siu has accumulated incomparable experience in new hotel opening. Over the years, she has also worked in a range of senior positions for those global lodging brands namely Hilton, Le Meridien, Hyatt, Regal and Marriott.

Connie began her career with Hilton Hotel Hong Kong and after she left Hilton in 1984, she oversaw the opening of a hotel in Guangzhou and actively participated in the pre-opening project of Grand Hyatt Hong Kong. Connie also contributed to the successful opening of the Regal International East Asia Hotel Shanghai; she was instrumental in the 1998 opening of the 1103-room Regal Airport Hotel in Hong Kong as well.

Eddie Lam – Director of Technical Services

Mr. Eddie Lam possesses a wealth of 20 years’ experience in hotel engineering operation and consultancy. As a technical services consultant, Eddie has been actively involved in different new hotel projects covering Hong Kong, China as well as Southeast Asia. He was the Vice President of Technical Services, Asia Pacific of Le Meridien Hotel and Resort before joining the NWHML in April 2006. During his service at Le Meridien, Eddie has accomplished more than 10 new hotel projects which include Le Meridien Cyberport in Hong Kong and Le Royal Meridien Shanghai.

Jackie Leung – Director of Finance

A member of ACCA and HKICPA, Ms. Leung had her hospitality career debut with New World Hotels International Limited in 1990. She had worked for the same organization for about 7 years before she joined the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel, Hong Kong. She was the Director of Finance of the hotel before she left. Jackie has been the Director of Finance of the New World Hotel Management Ltd (NWHML) since June 2006.

Anke Ho – Director of Human Resources

A certified Global Remuneration Professional (GRP), Ms. Anke Ho has 18 years of experience in hotel human resources. Anke was in key human resources positions with Marriott International Group for over 9 years, and her last appointment was Regional Human Resources Manager. On top of having set up human resources system for various new hotel projects of Marriott, Anke was also in charge of large-scale training programmes for these new projects.

She joined NWHML in June 2006 as Director of Human Resources.

Colar Chan - Regional Director of Sales

Ms Chan has over 27 years of hotel experience with the participation in a number of hotel opening projects. She has worked for Miramar, Regal, New World, Marriott, Harbour Plaza and Sheraton over the years. Prior to joining the New World Hotel Management Limited, she was the Director of Sales & Marketing at the Sheraton Shenzhen Futian Hotel.
